Description:
This BETA (test) site is not online for commercial use.
The idea is to engage, honor and then monetize the millions of volunteers around the country who are usually not acknowledged for their tireless community efforts.
Concept – Set them up with one page that describes their accomplishments for their peers and family to see
Other – Send them a Front Porch award (a small statue/trophy)
Validation – Top people on the board would help legitimize The Front Porch Network
Who Pays? – The family members or church or other house of worship, Boys & Girls Clubs, etc (whatever persons admire and want to help acknowledge the target volunteer)
Price – In the $4/mo range and focus on high volumes. Extremely low cost means high margins and profits
Competition – People can do this on their own by creating profiles on Facebook and MySpace…BUT The Front Porch Network reaches out and CHOOSES people who have given back to the community. Ours is an award legitimized by the weight and reputation of our board. So the others may amount to creating ‘bragging’ rights; while our service is more distinguished and selective and represents an honor bestowed upon the individual. The targets we hope to reach are the type of people who do not want their achievements listed on a common community site along side teenage dating pages….
Need – What I need is funding and staff support to effectively MARKET and ADVERTISE this to individuals, as well as non-profit organizations that will likely have $4/mo in their budgets to honor one or more veteran volunteers who represent the spirit of the organization and, to date, has been likely honored in more traditional ways. Part of the marketing campaign would be to impress upon these volunteers and organizations with use them that the Internet is THE place where the NEXT batch of volunteers will emerge. And that being on the Internet is perhaps the best way to show young people what it means to volunteer and give back to the communities in which we live.
